School Based Therapeutic Programs/The Hammond Academy Charter Schools
Traditionally, the roles of clinicians, psychologist, and social workers in schools have been extremely limited. As a result, prior collaboration was meager among education/school personnel and mental health providers when assisting students with behavior and/ or psychosocial problems. This increased awareness has created a push for mental health clinicians to be a part of interdisciplinary teams, which include psychologists, clinicians, social workers, therapeutic support staff and behavioral specialist consultants.
The Hammond Group recognizes that many of our schools lack mental healthcare providers, social and behavioral resources in our schools. Without, these resources teachers and administrators and most of all our children suffer. This is why THG would like to offer our support to your school district by assisting your entire administration on every grade level (K-12). We would like to bring to your school district a very diverse, highly trained clinical team that can provide additional support, which will enhance your behavioral support teams already in place.
By introducing our school-based teams this program will augment the work of already existing non-inclusive school-based teams. This will emphasize an effort by the school to fill in gaps and improve services in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team effort. Providing a range of services captures the notion of building comprehensive care for youth in the most universal natural setting, related to the strong evidence and growing awareness that most youth who would benefit from mental health care do not receive it.
This shift towards interdisciplinary mental health care for youth in schools has not only proven beneficial, but it has also encouraged child-focused researchers to improve existing conceptual models and broaden treatments for youth.
Now, more than ever, researchers and clinicians from multiple disciplines are working together to enhance the lives and functioning of children and adolescents with various behavior, pro-social, and psychosocial problems.
The school-based team will consist of master degreed social workers, therapist, behavioral specialist consultants and much more. Because our schools often lack the resources and staff to adequately fulfill the needs of our children, this is where the THG will be most beneficial to your school district. The THG will provide a collaborative school-based team model. They will meet with existing team members to gather current data on the various needs for each child and develop strategic interventions to create better outcomes for our children.
The school-based team will have a clinical team leader, therapeutic staff support, behavior specialist consultant that will foster ideals with your school guidance counselor, social worker, and staff psychologist. Together they will identify student’s needs and provide a tailored educational plan for each student. The school-based team will have a caseload of 20 to 25 students per clinician per calendar year. They will provide counseling to improve the student’s pro-social skills as well as increase their academic success in the classroom. The educational setting will be (ES-LS-Regular Ed) with therapeutic support.
In conclusion, it is our belief that by contracting with The Hammond Group, Inc. not only will your school district benefit from our services but ultimately families will be impacted as well as our children.

It is the belief of THG that children and families are this country’s most valuable resources. Children are twenty percent of the country’s population and one hundred percent of the country’s future. At THG it is our belief to affect the lives of children, we must begin with their vision of their community and how they fit into that vision. Molding the lives of children is paramount to the future. The vision of a child begins as a fragment, starting with the family. The fragments begins with the family, extend to our neighborhood, community as well as society. Building the child’s interest in society is the challenge. The Hammond Group is the resource helping to bring the fragments together.
